Behold! The Cheesiest Thing Alice Has Ever Written. Ever.
Title: The Gambit — Untitled Scene
Series: Mystic Memories
Characters: William Tripper, King Mathias, Cian the Great Wizard, Meadow Tanner (sort of)
Notes: So…. I just wrote this while waiting for the kettle to boil, so it’s very unpolished and actually pretty cheesy. But I needed to get it out of my head. I started working on The Gambit a few days ago; it’s the latest installment in my Mystic Memories series and it takes place in Orkosan. And I actually have a loose plot out line and four languages developed for it. Though, the languages I use are really just English in cypher-text. I love me some cyphers. Anyway, this happens toward the end of the story. Meadow is a wood witch (meaning a witch who lives in the woods and makes her living off selling potions to people, medicines and poisons and health things and such) who is currently in a bad mental place, which affects her control on her magic, which is currently causing havoc in the valley where our heroes are at. Enjoy and remember, wrote it while waiting for the kettle so it isn’t my best work.
"Tripp, you have to run!" Cian insisted, pulling on the Thief’s arm. "She’s losing control of her Magic; the whole valley might go up with her!"
And though he knew the Wizard was right, the Elf couldn’t make himself move, couldn’t bring himself to leave her. “I can’t,” he muttered. “I can’t abandon her.”
"Are you insane?" the Wizard demanded. "She’ll kill you if you stay!"
"Then she’ll kill me!" Tripp replied. "I left her once to save my own skin and it nearly killed us both; I ain’t gonna leave her again. If I die, at least I die with her." He nodded to Cian and the King and fought his way through the waves of Magic to Meadow’s side.
"Is he mad?" Mathias asked over the roar of the Witch’s Magic.
"No," Cian shook his head. "He’s in love."
So. Much. Cheese. I hope you had some crackers or wine with that. Goodness. It’ll get cleaned up and probably way less cheesy later in edits. I don’t really have a handle on Meadow, Tripp, or Mathias yet. Cian, I’ve worked with many times before and I know him well; he was one of the first characters I created for this world. So was Mathias, but he was so minor in the other books that I don’t really know him well. Meadow and Tripp just came to me on, like, Tuesday. They have truly awesome back stories, though. And I really like their relationship so far.
